The Oscar of the food world
Vol. 4 No. 3

Humboldt Fog -- Outstanding Classic sofi Awards finalist

The Outstanding Classic award is for a product that has been on the market for at least 12 years. Humboldt Fog Grande (below) is an aged goat milk cheese made by Cypress Grove Chevre. The thin layer of edible vegetable ash under the exterior and the ribbon of ash through the middle mark this distinctive cheese. Never tried it? Lucky for you, its still being made and still extraordinary.

New products a hit with judges

Bella Chi-Cha. recently added two new cheese tortas to her line, and impressed the sofi Award judges. Creamy Goat Cheese Torta with Apricot is a finalist -- great on a bagel at breakfast, or on a cracker in the evening with a glass of wine!

Sheep milk yogurt

Bellwether Farms has been making sheep milk cheese for many years, and they recently began making yogurt from sheep milk as well. The fresh taste of strawberries shines through with this yogurt, which is a sofi Award finalist.

The authentic flavor of Mexico

San Angel Mole is a finalist with their Cascabel Sauce. The medium heat of this family recipe make it a versatile sauce for enchiladas, tamales, chilaquiles, Chili con Carne, or a delicious shrimp and avocado cocktail.

Truffled cheese - yum!

Another finalist from Cypress Grove Chevre is their newest cheese, Truffle Tremor. The earthy flavor of truffles meets the velvety elegance of ripened goat milk cheese.

Bet you can't eat just one

Desserts on Us is a sofi Award finalist in the cookie category with their delicious (and addicting) Almond and Dark Chocolate Laceys.

Salud, dinero y amor...

...y el tiempo para gustarlos! Make your Cinco de Mayo margaritas with natural agave syrup from 21 Missions Organics. For a cocktail twist, try using the Coconut Lemon flavored agave.

It's like an Oscar to us!

At the Fancy Food Show in New York these select finalists will compete for the gold, with the winners announced on June 29.

Spring has sprung

In Northern California, spring is very evident. California poppies, ranging from bright yellow to golden orange are covering hillsides and median strips with their delicate, translucent blossoms.

What better way to enjoy this dazzling scenery than on a bike! A favorite Bay Area bike trip is out to Pt. Reyes, where everyone stops at Bovine Bakery (above) for a breakfast pastry, coffee, a cold drink or lunch.
