Benefit for Slow Food

Most events organized by the local Slow Food group are small gatherings filled by members, but the organization is holding a benefit and membership drive event with SavorCalifornia.com Sunday, May 15, to which everyone is invited. It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Barrel Room of the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in St. Helena.

A wide array of specialty California artisans food, wine and beer producers will present their products to taste and buy in a farmers market setting. You can see a list of the products to be offered at savorcalifornia.com or purchase tickets at $35 per person from www.slowfoodUSA.org or 866-SLOWFOOD or (718) 826-0800.

Slow Food U.S.A., which was established in Italy as an antidote for our fast-paced life of unhealthy, rushed food, is dedicated to promoting stewardship of the land and ecologically sound food production; reviving the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure, culture, and community; invigorating and proliferating regional, seasonal culinary traditions; creating a collaborative, ecologically-oriented, and virtuous globalization; and living a slower and more harmonious rhythm of life.
