Sweet Heart Shortcake

½ cupButter
2 cupsFlour
¼ cupSugar
4 teaspoonsBaking powder
¼ teaspoonSalt
½ cupMilk
2Eggs, separated
3 TablespoonsSugar
1 packageSusie Q's Strawberry Glaze Pie Filling
1 pintFresh strawberries, washed and sliced
1 cupWhipping cream, whipped and sweetened


Grease 9� fluted tart pan or cake pan with 1 tablespoon of butter.

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl. Cut in remaining butter to resemble coarse meal. In measuring cup blend milk and egg yolks with fork. Stir into flour mixture and make a soft dough.

Pat out flour mixture into prepared pan with lightly floured fingers. Brush surface generously with egg whites and sprinkle with 3 tablespoons of sugar.

Bake in preheated 450 degree oven for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on rack.

Prepare Strawberry Glaze Pie Filling according to directions. Stir in sliced strawberries.

Serve wedges or shortcake topped with strawberry glaze pie filling and whipped cream.
Serves 6-8.
