This recipe is from the girl & the fig in Sonoma, California.
5 | Eggs |
1 quart | Large dice of stale bread |
1 cup | Diced dried black Mission Figs |
2 cups | Cream |
2 | Apples, peeled, cored, and cut into large dice |
3 Tablespoons | Butter |
½ cup | Brown sugar |
Pinch | Salt |
¾ | Small bottle Nana Mae's Apple Cider |
|
Melt together butter, sugar, salt and cider.
Add apples and bring to a boil. Turn off heat and allow apples to cool in the liquid.
Lightly whisk eggs to combine. Combine all ingredients, bread cubes last. Put into an oven proof dish overnight to allow bread to soak up the liquid.
Bring to room temperature. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, until top is browned.
